Hey our lovely fried chickens! The House of KFC is ravished to invite you to our first kiki ball: the Red Ball. The Red Kiki Ball is the closing event of Rad Frosh 2023 - . (Open to students and non-students)
Theme/categories: All categories call for at least one item that is red.
THE RED KIKI BALL - Red is a colour of resistance. It is a colour of power. It is the colour of our blood. Red is the colour of fire. Red is the colour of rage.
Please get in touch to sponsor a category!
Switch* phae 1: DAY JOB (Switch is a category for butches, masc lesbians, and Butch Queens up in drag. Butches come as a femme and then peel out into a butch/mf. Or, BQUID -butch queen up in drags - (gay men in drags) come as male presenting (don’t have to pass as straight, just cis) and then they go and transform into PASSING ffs.
Capitalism has us work work working and usually it’s not working at something we care about or even agree with. Many of us have to conceal who we truly are to get and keep the job and are expected to wear a uniform or dress professionally.
For phase 1 of Switch, bring it in a DAY JOB dialogue and face to bring it in a night look in phase 2.
Runway: STRENGTH.
Clothing can be a form of protection, physically, and by making us feel strong. It is also a way of expressing our unique selves, which in itself is an act of resistance. Bring it in a look that is powerful and defiant.
OTA
Realness: ACTS OF RESISTANCE
Sometimes it’s necessary to conceal your identity to commit acts of resistance; Serve it in an undercover effect. Don't forget to include an item that signals you are one of us.
For Trans people, Butches and Butch Queens, and drags.
Best dressed spectator: RESILIENCE.
As oppressed and marginalized people, just existing takes so much resilience. Being our authentic selves takes bravery. It is also an act of defiance and resistance. Show us a look that is brave while reads editorial.
Bizarre: MUSHROOMS.
Mushrooms transform dead and toxic matter into organic matter. They clean toxic environments. They balance eco-systems. They grow after fires. They bring us on magical and healing journeys. They balance. They support our health and all life on the planet. Mushrooms are key to our survival, especially in the times we find ourselves.
Bring it in a look that is inspired by mushrooms.
Intermission
Switch: Phase 2: NIGHT LOOK
For many of us, night time means freedom. Or at least more freedom than the day. We have the cover of darkness to do all kinds of things that are harder to do in the full daytime light of the sun. For phase 2 of Switch bring it in a NIGHT LOOK that shows what you love to do at night. This is the transformation phase, make sure to highlight your transformation.
Butch Queen Up In Drag (BQUID): FUCK THE PATRIARCHY.
Patriarchy demonizes femininity in all of its forms. Bring it in a punk look that gives the middle finger to patriarchy.
Open to Butch Queens only.
Performance: Old way - HERSTORY.
All activism builds on the activism of those who came before us. We would be nothing without our ancestors. Serve it in a look that honors someone who paved the way for us.
You can bring a picture for reference.
Performance: Vogue Femme. THRIVING
Imagine us into the future where Femmes are given the respect they deserve. Her needs are met, she’s valued, and she’s encouraged to be exactly as feminine as she likes.
Serve it as a futuristic Femme that is THRIVING.
Sex Siren: RADICAL SEX.
A radical approach to sex is revolutionary and it helps bring the change we are all so thirsty for. Even sex for pleasure's sake can be a radical act as we live in a society that teaches us not to value and prioritize our own pleasure.
Serve it in an effect that would make conservative church types very uncomfortable.
PLEASE NOTE THIS IS AN EARLY EVENT HAPPENING ON A SUNDAY. Start time is 5pm!!!
