She also writes for mainstream outlets, including a monthly column called “Pleasure Practices” in TONE Madison. Dr. Schalk identifies as a fat, Black, queer, disabled femme and a pleasure activist.
Karine-Myrgianie Jean-François (she/her) is a legally trained advocate for social justice and human rights. She has worked in feminist organizations in the community sector for over 10 years, including for the Disabled Women's Network of Canada. Born, raised and still living in Tiohtià:ke (colonially known as Montréal), this Black queer woman supports minoritized communities in their liberation. She currently works for the City of Montréal, as a Manager, Local development in the Service of Social Diversity and Inclusion. As an eternal optimist, she believes in the power of communities and knows that we as folks that are always put at the margins have the power to change our world!
Gift Tshuma (he/him) is a disability rights activist and a music composer, with a background in Sociology and a minor in Law and Society from Concordia University. Over the past decade, he has been heavily involved in advocacy for disability rights and accessibility issues in Montreal. As a co-founding member of a grassroots group, Accessibilize Montreal, he has been involved in numerous initiatives targeting discriminatory infrastructure, both physical and social, that excludes people with diverse bodies and minds from public spaces and stigmatizes them. He currently holds positions at March of Dimes Canada, Centre For Sustainable Practice In The Arts and Blurring the Boundaries. For the past 10 years, Gift has been working as an Advisor in accessibility and universal design. Gift carries a wealth of experience in the non-profit, health, public, technical and service sectors; he is committed to social justice issues and in the empowerment of marginalized communities.

About the illustrator for the poster:
Jo’Nia Miller (she/her) discovered early on that drawing was her purpose and gift. She uses her creativity and imagination to bring her artwork to life. She’s inspired to create pieces that depict the many facets of women. We are diverse, beautiful, unique, powerful, courageous, and passionate. Even as a visually impaired woman, she can see these truths about all women!
As a visually impaired woman, she has never allowed her impairment to prevent her from creating art and impacting others through her work. Through her art, she wants to inspire others to never stop dreaming and to continually pursue their purpose regardless of life’s challenges. Welcome to the world as seen through the eyes of Jo’Nia Miller!
