Project 10 in collaboration with the Center for Gender Advocacy, are hosting an entirely free job fair exclusively for trans, non-binary, gender non-conforming and Two-Spirit individuals and communities on Sunday August 21st 2022.
This space is wheelchair accessible and contains various gender neutral single stall washrooms.
Are you a trans person who is looking for a job? Are you non binary and not sure if you can put your name on your CV? Are you gender non conforming and hoping to find a place to work that celebrates your identity instead of ignores it? Or do you already have a job and you want to learn about your rights in a workshop? We are building this event to provide a space to learn about your options from legit sources and see who's hiring!
Through this event we are hoping to offer a positive space where our communities between the ages 14 and up, can come and see about being employed in work spaces that embrace their identities fully. What will this look like?
Throughout the day long event, folks will be able to drop by and speak to 10 different employers about job opportunities with them as well as ask questions about hiring. You will be able to give your CV to many of these employers.
Staff will also be available to review and edit CV's, knowing the realities of trans folks and the employment laws in Quebec - So be sure to bring yours if you have one or ask one of our staff members about where to start.
Staff will also be providing 2 identical workshops throughout the day on our rights as trans people in the work force, in a separate room connected to the space the actual job fair will be happening. Schedule for workshops is available in registration form.
Why did we chose these employers?
Those who are participating have been recommended to us from community members who reported having positive experiences working with them, as well as having more concrete policies supporting 2LGBTQ+ individuals working there. Of course there is always space to improve so we are in conversation with the different employers and organisations about how to make their places of employment as accessible for trans folks as possible.
