Please join us for our virtual panel discussion "Eating Inside: Food Insecurity in Canadian Prisons" on Thursday April 14th from 7PM-9PM EST to discuss the quantity and quality of food inside Canadian prisons, including the small portions, horrible quality, and lack of variety according to Canada’s food guide.
We believe that prison food is an often discounted and unaddressed topic which severely impacts the health (physically and psychologically) of incarcerated people.
We have invited four panelists to join us in this discussion. All four panelists will speak to: lived experiences from eating inside, seeing loved ones be impacted by prison food, the food delivery and protocol, and the policy implications of such human rights violations within Canadian prisons. There will also be a moderated Q&A period.
We call upon Canadian prisons to be held accountable for failing to meet the standards of care regarding prison food.
Many, many thanks to the Criminal Justice Community Grant from the Canadian Friends Service Committee (CFSC) for sponsoring this event.
Participants who attend will be entered into a draw for a chance to win one $50.00 gift card to Octopus Books (116 Third Ave, Ottawa, ON K1S 2K1)! We hope to see you there!
