We Keep Each Other Sustained: Interdependency, mutual-aid, and community care
“We Keep Each Other Sustained: Interdependency, mutual-aid, and
community care” is a community discussion facilitated by Anti-Oppression
and Anti-Racism Educator, Organizer, and Moderator Timaaj Hassen;
Creative Arts Therapist and Co-Founder of the Black Healing Fund, Kat
Charles; Community Organizer and Mother of the House of Barbara, Elle
Barbara; and Writer, Organizer, and Facilitator, Harar Hall.
Birthed from a tweet by user, @haterscafe, reading: “Mutual Aid not as
activism but as the basis of our every day relationships.” This
conversation will be an expansion on how we as comrades, friends, and
community members show up for one another in relationships, families,
and larger communities; the ancestral practices of interdependency; and
the tangible ways we can demonstrate our politics outside of theory.
Grounded in abolitionist frameworks, the discussion is meant to
encourage community members to look beyond the state resources to
sustain each other.
